Contributions to Discipleship are investments in RCA members' faith development
, today and for generations to come.
Discipleship in the RCA seeks to build a "depth of faith" in both individuals and congregations, so that every follower of Jesus has the means to live out his or her faith in every aspect of life. Faithful discipleship is built on Christian education, spiritual disciplines, worship, service, and engagement with the culture around us. It involves providing lifelong faith formation activities for children, youth, and adults; training resources and events for leaders; and ongoing support and nurture in a variety of ministries that help us live out our commitment as Christians. Currently program staff provide "Learning for Life" materials for over 650 congregations and support newsletters for more than 1,000 individuals, along with supplementary resources and training opportunities for all interested congregations.
The Opportunity
Healthier existing congregations and new congregations will have an ever-increasing need for resources, leadership support, and guidance to help shape the faith development of their members. We need to develop resource teams that respond to the needs of congregations, along with networking and coaching resources that will sustain strong faith development programs.
From discipleship and faith development spring both the roots that firmly hold our church as well as the new branches and fruit that signify new life and growth.
