The Ministry of the Elder Booklet
The Ministry of the Elder: Guiding and Nurturing God's People will help elders prepare for effective service. Written by Robert White and published by Reformed Church Press, this new booklet clarifies the role an elder plays alongside the minister and deacon. It discusses the responsibilities of spiritual oversight, discipline and discipling, gatekeeping, and visitation. The booklet will be particularly helpful to new elders, but it can also provide fresh insights for "old-timers." The Ministry of the Elder can also assist other consistory members in their understanding of an elder's job description as well as their own. Available in English, Spanish, and Korean.
What's an Elder to Be?
This new video focuses on the responsibilities of elders and the practical means by which elders can best carry out those responsibilities. What's an Elder to Be? is available on the Consistory Training DVD and is also available online.
So You've Been Asked to Lead in Prayer by Timothy J. Mulder One in a series of practical pamphlets, this one is designed to help individuals prepare to lead the congregation in prayer. Pastors and worship-planning teams will want to have copies on hand to give to those who fill specific leadership roles.
