Sister Share

RCA Women's Ministries' newest initiative, Sister Share, provides a way for women to make a commitment to share with their sisters around the world.

"Sister Share is an opportunity to save lives and make a difference by committing to a monthly gift that will go into a fund specifically created to serve women and children around the globe," says Women's Ministries coordinator Mary Clark.

Poverty, hunger, human trafficking, and violence affect countless women and children all over the world. According to the World Health Organization, 600,000 women die every year in developing countries from complications arising from pregnancy and childbirth. In addition, 9 million of the world's refugees are children.

Sister Share is a way to make a difference in the lives of countless women and children. Through Sister Share you can:

• Give marginalized women in India a place to belong and become financially self-sufficient. Blue Mango provides a supportive, healing environment and an income-generation program for 60 women who are affected by AIDS, widowed, physically disabled, or victims of domestic abuse. • Support ministry to victims of modern-day slavery. Each year hundreds of thousands of women and girls worldwide are trafficked across international borders and forced into the sex trade. Break the Chains, an RCA mission partner, works with local Christian ministries around the world to support victims of human trafficking and to educate and protect girls and women at risk of exploitation. • Feed a hungry child in Nicaragua. In Bluefields, Nicaragua, one of the poorest areas of Central America, children regularly scrounge through the city dump for food. Donations to a feeding program in Bluefields will provide a daily meal and medical care for 60 of these children. Read more.
• Provide pregnancy support services in Welland, Ontario. Elisha House reaches out to young women in crisis by providing free pregnancy tests, counseling, and support services, including post-abortion counseling, parenting support groups, and mentoring programs. Read more.
• Help women heal in Sudan. The past 21 years of brutal civil war have left women in Sudan with emotional as well as physical scars. Women who are leaders in their churches want to learn counseling skills in order to minister to other women who are suffering. Your gift will help provide workshops to bring these women together for training. Read more.
