Help Train Peacemakers in Kenya"Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God." Matthew 5:9 The Need
In December 2007, after a highly contested election, Kenya, a relatively stable African democracy, imploded. Ethnically charged violence raged. Over 1,000 people were killed and 600,000 were internally displaced.
While peace has been restored throughout most of Kenya, some areas remain volatile. The Presbyterian Church of East Africa and Africa Inland Church, churches that partner in mission with the RCA, along with the Reformed Church of East Africa, have acknowledged their members' involvement in the rioting and killing and are striving to bring healing and restoration to the region before the next national election in 2012.
