The RCA is pleased to welcome two new ministry leaders to its staff: Eliza Cortés Bast as the coordinator for Local Missional Engagement and Doug Leonard as the director of Global Mission.

As leader of the local mission team, Bast will work to equip churches with resources and support as they seek to do creative ministry with their communities. She comes to the RCA from Centerpoint Church (RCA) in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where she served as pastor of outreach. She also launched and served as executive director of The Point Community Center in Kalamazoo.

Leonard joins the RCA staff after serving more than six years as the executive director of Al Amana Centre, an RCA partner in Oman. He has also served as minister for congregations in New York State, and led development work for academic institutions and non-profit organizations. As director of Global Mission, he will oversee the RCA’s work of equipping mission leaders to maximize the impact their mission investment can make around the world.

RCA director of missional engagement Tony Campbell is excited to see the denomination’s local and global ministries continue to grow and thrive under the leadership of both Bast and Leonard.

“Eliza and Doug bring considerable knowledge, expertise, and a history of very successful work in the areas of global and local mission,” said Campbell. “They both bring not only a passion to see the local church thrive in mission, but also energy and experience to walk alongside our congregations and help them achieve the goals that the Holy Spirit has given them to serve locally and globally. I am happy that they are a part of the team!”

Bast has already begun her work with the RCA; Leonard will begin his work as a member of staff on April 15.
