The General Synod Council (GSC) is now accepting applications for the search team that will find the next general secretary of the Reformed Church in America.

Tom De Vries finished his service as general secretary on June 15. Until a permanent general secretary is installed, retired RCA minister Don Poest is serving as interim general secretary

The general secretary search team will be made up of ten to twelve people, representing the diversity of the denomination and including two or three members of the GSC. Members of the search team are not eligible for the position of general secretary. The deadline to apply is July 20.

The GSC will select the team by August so that the search process can begin in September. The search team’s goal will be to present a final candidate for approval by the GSC at its meeting in March. The candidate will then need to be approved by General Synod 2018 before he or she can be installed as general secretary.

Between September and March, members of the search committee will be expected to attend at least three in-person meetings. These meetings may last a full day or longer, particularly once the interview process is underway.

You can apply for the search team at www.rca.org/searchteam.
