"I promise you that I will do my best to listen to you, to listen to God, to work for you and with you that all voices may be heard and God's work might be continued," said Vander Wal, pastor of Lisha’s Kill Reformed Church in Schenectady, New York.

"I ask you to pray for me as I take on this responsibility, and I ask that you will pray for this denomination, that God’s spirit might move among us to reconcile all things on heaven and earth to God, and that God's kingdom might be advanced through the work that we all do."

Vander Wal said that she takes on the role of vice president with some fear and trepidation, but knows that God is able when she is not. "My prayer is that God’s strength will be with all of us as we try to live out the kingdom so others will see and believe in our great Savior, Jesus Christ."

Vander Wal has served with the Ministerial Formation Certification Agency and on the Reformed Candidates Supervision and Care Certification Committee. She also has served as RCA Commission on Christian Worship moderator; Regional Synod of Albany president; on various General Synod and regional synod task forces and committees; and as Montgomery Classis president. She is the current chair of the Schenectady Classis Ministerial Oversight and Candidate Care Committee.

Vander Wal is married to Dave, and they have two adult children. She received a bachelor's degree in psychology and social work from the University of Michigan, and a master of divinity degree from Calvin Theological Seminary through the Theological Education Agency.
