Volunteer Engagement Coordinator Named
Volunteer opportunities—especially chances to serve RCA churches and missionaries—will increase with the appointment of Kristin Englund as the RCA's new coordinator for volunteer engagement.
"Throughout my life, God has used mission trips and volunteer opportunities to deepen my passion and love for him and this world," says Englund. "These experiences have helped form me spiritually and helped me to discern God's call in my life. I look forward to helping provide others these types of opportunities."
As the coordinator for volunteer engagement, Englund will connect individuals and volunteer groups from RCA churches with opportunities to help missionaries, churches in need, and partner organizations around the world.
"Kristin brings both a passion for and understanding of the local church to this position," says general secretary Tom De Vries. "I look forward to serving with her as we develop transformational opportunities for service that missionally engage RCA volunteers and bless people locally and globally."
Funding for this new position was approved by the 2012 General Synod to enhance the RCA's existing volunteer coordination efforts.
For the last four years, Englund has served on the staff of Fair Haven Ministries in Hudsonville, Michigan, as children's ministries director and family ministries director. Prior to that she served on staff at Geneva Camp and Retreat Center for two summers.
Englund will begin her duties as coordinator for volunteer engagement in mid-November.
