Volunteers

"As the Father has sent me, so I send you." --John 20:21

As followers of Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit, we are called to serve the lost and hurting and to proclaim the good news of the gospel in our local community and throughout the world. Each of us has been called to participate in God's mission. Each of us is SENT.

RCA Volunteer Engagement exists to help you engage personally in God's mission through meaningful volunteer opportunities. We believe that as people serve in the name of Christ, whether in their local community or around the world, the impact of that service will change lives--the lives of those being served, of those who serve, and of the churches that send.

Stories about Volunteers in the RCA

Short Trips with Big Impact: Project Timothy formative for teen

When George Lundberg set out for his first Project Timothy mission trip, he expected to help people. He didn’t expect to get so much out of it himself.

Rebuilding God’s House: Midwest volunteers help Florida congregation make repairs and improvements

Volunteers from “up north” are encouraging the revitalized ministry underway at North Dade Community Church (NDCC), an RCA congregation in southeastern Florida.

With pastor Newton Fairweather leading, NDCC has found new ways to connect with its community, and its ministries are growing. But NDCC’s 1970s-era building needed a lot of work, and the congregation didn’t have the resources to make repairs.

To Serve, to Learn, to Love

On sign-up day, college students start lining up at 4:30 a.m., outside in the cold. They're not pledging fraternities or sororities--they want the first shot at a spot on spring break mission trips.

Mission Trip Tuscaloosa

Twelve members from Reformed Church of Cortlandtown and their pastor, Amy Nyland, gave their time, energy, and gifts to serve with Habitat for Humanity in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, during Holy Week this year.

My Voice: Showing Weakness

The past year and a half I have been working with the youth of my church in various ways. I have been overly careful in everything I say and do in order to avoid being misleading or say the wrong thing. After all, one wrong word could ruin the rest of their lives, right?
