Adjunct Professor in Physics – Classical Mechanics, Spring 2015
Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, IL

Position: Adjunct faculty needed to teach an advanced physics class on classical mechanics beginning January 22, 2015. This is an upper level course that will build upon the classical mechanics learned in the first semester of college physics. Although classical mechanics is an incomplete theory which has been supplanted by quantum mechanics and general relativity in the 20th century, it is extremely important to understand classical mechanics. Non-relativistic quantum mechanics, for example, is built upon the Hamiltonian formulation of classical mechanics, and many of the mathematical techniques developed in this course will be used repeatedly in other physics courses. A strong foundation in classical mechanics will help to better understand fields such as quantum mechanics, relativity, and chaos theory. This class is currently scheduled to be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 – 9:20 a.m., but could possibly be taught at another time or in the evenings, depending on student’s availability.

Qualifications: Ph.D. strongly preferred; Master’s degree required. Previous collegiate teaching experience desired.
