About Dick & Carolyn Otterness

Roma (Gypsy) people make up the largest ethnic minority in Central and Eastern Europe. Many are very poor and isolated, mostly illiterate, and almost universally unemployed. Dick and Carolyn Otterness work with the Hungarian Reformed Church to implement a national Roma mission strategy. Together they support church leaders and Roma congregations and work at building bridges between the church and secular society. They also work with Roma to improve access to health care and education. Hospitality is a big part of their ministry. Before moving to Hungary, Dick served as a pastor and administrator for 27 years while Carolyn worked as a nurse and nurse practitioner.

Dick and Carolyn serve in partnership with the Reformed Church in Hungary.
