Trip expectations

There will be three virtual pre-trip meetings in January 2022, which all participants are expected to attend. These will help us get to know one another, prepare ourselves for our journey, and start to consider how we hope our learnings will support our current ministry context. These meetings, held via Zoom, are scheduled based on the groups’ availability and will last two hours each.

The terrain in Jamaica may be uneven in some areas. Trip participants will need to be able to walk short distances on unpaved paths or roads.

The CCCD campus where we will be staying can accommodate a variety of dietary needs and restrictions. Please let us know your dietary needs before the trip so that we can be prepared to accommodate you fully.

Your passport must be valid for six months after the date of your return to the United States.

About CCCD

Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf exists to reach, teach, and nurture the Deaf of Jamaica so that they can experience the joy of knowing Jesus and serving within their community. They accomplish this by operating three residential schools spread geographically across the island (Kingston, Knockpatrick, and Montego Bay) as well as a centrally located Jamaica Deaf Village (Mandeville), which ministers with adult Deaf people and their children.

Equity-based hospitality CCCD Covid-19 travel information

For the RCA Equity-Based Hospitality trip to the Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf, we require all participants to be fully vaccinated (2 weeks after the second shot of Pfizer-Biontech or Moderna, or 2 weeks after the single shot of Johnson & Johnson).

U.S. travelers to Jamaica are required to request and obtain a travel authorization within 72 hours of their planned departure.

Travelers must present their travel authorization along with a negative Covid-19 test (PCR and/or serology) before boarding flights for Jamaica. In order to avoid quarantine, travelers on this trip will also take a Covid-19 PCR test upon arrival in Jamaica.

Masks will be required for our group while riding in enclosed transportation and while indoors (except for sleeping). Masks will not be required in outdoor settings, and because of Jamaica’s tropical climate, we will be outside as much as possible.

As we all know, the situation with Covid-19 continues to evolve, and may look different in various parts of the world. Information regarding Covid-19 protocols and expectations may be updated at any time by RCA Global Mission, or by our partners at the Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf. The RCA is not a medical care provider; therefore, we recommend that you visit the CDC travel vaccination website to determine which vaccines are necessary prior to traveling to Jamaica. You can also consult your local health department or personal medical care provider for travel medical referrals.

Cancellation policy

This trip may be cancelled by RCA Global Mission for any reason, including but not limited to political unrest, safety concerns, or health concerns. It is our goal to ensure the health and safety of all travelers, as much as we are able. Any decision regarding trip cancellation will be communicated immediately via members of the Global Mission staff.
