Gretchen Schoon Tanis

  • Evangelism and church planting
The newness of ex-pat living can be exciting, especially in Hannover, Germany. The sugary, melting sensation of a slice of cake on your tongue from the local bakery, wandering streets lined with historic architecture, and immersing yourself in a new language are a few of the highs of this new life. But often expats can feel out of place, especially in a country that speaks a language different from their native tongue. It can be hard to find community—especially a church community—where they feel like they truly belong.

Gretchen Schoon Tanis pastors RELISH, the Reformed English Language International Service of Hannover. Twice a month, Gretchen leads a community of English-speaking international students and expat working individuals and families in worship, in addition to a weekly Bible study for young adults. Her goal is to offer a dynamic worship experience where families and young adults can find a place to call home and can grow in their relationship with God.
