In a small kitchen in Costa Rica, discipleship simmers in the Casa Adobe Community while a meal bubbles on the stove. Here, mentoring happens around the table or while tending to the garden. Down the road, another group walks along a polluted river, rediscovering their vocation to care for and be cared for by creation. Tomorrow, they will show Christ’s love to the migrant population nearby by serving a meal. It’s in these places—and several others—where faith formation, missional vocation, and theological conversations meet the pressing realities of today’s world.

James Padilla DeBorst provides pastoral leadership to Casa Adobe, an intentional Christian community in Costa Rica, and guides A Rocha Costa Rica in community organizing, education, migrant care, and environmental care. He also teaches and leads in Latin American educational networks like CETI and Caminantes, while serving globally with the International Fellowship for Mission as Transformation.
