At General Synod 2014, the RCA Church Growth Fund announced a new scholarship program for next-generation missional engagement.

Grants will be awarded through RCA Volunteer Engagement to help fund volunteer opportunities, advocacy experiences, and mission internships for middle school to post-college young adults.

CGF board president Diane Faubion said establishing a grant program is In keeping with engaging emerging leaders of today and tomorrow, and engaging in Christ’s kingdom mission. Synod approved changes to the CGF’s bylaws that established the grant program.

Twenty-five percent of the CGF’s net earnings already fund grants for new church plants. “Since 1999 we’ve contributed $4 million for church planting, with 209 churches benefitting from these funds,” Faubion said.

Investments in CGF savings certificates have expanded greatly in recent years, with current investments at an all-time high of $31.2 million. “We’re very grateful for this confidence in our program and support of our mission,” said Faubion.

One in 10 churches in the RCA currently has a borrowing relationship with the CGF. Twenty percent of churches invest in CGF savings certificates.
