General Synod Begins
General Synod was called to order at 3:00 p.m. Thursday by General Synod president Carl Boersma, pastor of Faith Reformed Church in Brookings, South Dakota.
Synod brings together elders and ministers from throughout the denomination. Voting delegates are sent by classes and regional synods; corresponding delegates are sent by the RCA's institutions, agencies, and commissions.
For the next six days, delegates and guests will worship, pray, and discuss the ministry and mission of the RCA.
RCA delegates will also be meeting with delegates from the Synod of the Christian Reformed Church in North America, which is being held alongside the RCA's synod. A number of joint plenary sessions and events are planned.
Both synods are meeting at Central College in Pella, Iowa; this is the 208th synod of the Reformed Church in America.
