Transformed & Transforming

God at work through cultural agility workshops, Transformed & Transforming worship resources, and elder and deacon training.

All it takes is one defining moment for a young leader to grow and guide the next generation of the church.

General Synod 2015 met June 11-16 on the campus of Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois, and addressed many aspects of ministry and mission in the RCA.

The RCA welcomes Jill Ver Steeg to its staff as the coordinator for transformational equipping. In this role, she will serve as the leader of the Transformational Experiences team, which facilitates opportunities for churches to learn from and with one another.

As part of Transformed & Transforming, seven churches are working to increase their “cultural competency”—the level of welcome they offer for people of cultural and ethnic backgrounds different from the majority of the congregation.

Regional staff are working to align classes and congregations with the RCA’s new 15-year goal, Transformed & Transforming, using a ministry framework that is already familiar to them. It’s an attempt to capture the essence of Transformed & Transforming while serving the vision, mission, and values of the Far West Region.

Bethany Reformed Church is encouraging its 400 members to have impact for Christ in the places where they already spend time: work, school, their neighborhoods.

Live and love like Jesus. Radically follow Christ in mission together. That’s the RCA’s vision through Transformed & Transforming, a 15-year goal adopted in 2013.

A new Explore and Engage process is available for churches to use to learn about the new goal and reflect on where God might be calling them to be a part of it.

Thirty churches will kick off the first three Transformed & Transforming leadership communities this fall.
