The RCA’s mission statement calls us as the body of Christ to radically follow Christ together in mission in this lost and broken world so loved by God.
What does that mean, given the many kinds of brokenness in our lives, congregations, communities, and world? An important way to begin to answer that question is to look at what Jesus says about his own mission:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor” (Luke 4:18-19).
Good news. The poor. Release. Captives. Oppressed. The Lord’s favor.
What do we as persons, families, friends, congregations, and assemblies need to be in order to more fully participate in Jesus’ mission on earth? We need to live deeply as ambassadors and reconcilers of Christ, living into that calling the Apostle Paul clarified for us in 2 Corinthians 5:19-20. As Christ’s ambassadors and reconcilers, we share in removing the dividing walls between:
- People and God
- Broken relationships, institutions, and systems, and the kingdom of God
In this part of the RCA website, we offer you ready-to-use prayers and worship aids, along with important information about being Jesus’ reconcilers in this lost and broken world that needs the justice of God’s kingdom now:
