On June 1, Mike Dunlap began serving as the executive director for The Reformed Church in America Church Growth Fund, Inc. (CGF). Previously, CGF vice president Pam Goslinga filled the role in an interim capacity since former executive director Bob Carlson’s retirement in 2020.

The CGF offers affordable-rate loans to churches that are buying, building, or improving facilities for ministry.

“I’m excited to have Mike join the CGF as the new executive director,” says Goslinga. “His experience in the corporate banking industry combined with a heart to use those skills for the greater mission make him a great fit for the CGF.”

Dunlap joins the RCA staff after 18 years in corporate banking roles, primarily working with local organizations in West Michigan, including 8 years as the RCA and CGF’s banker.

“Mike brings a strong banking background with a desire to nurture relationships and support ministry,” says Michael Bos, CGF board president. “His leadership will help the CGF expand the opportunities we can offer churches to help with their financial and facility needs.”

Investors purchase savings certificates from the CGF, which fund CGF loans to churches. A portion of the interest income goes back to investors, and the CGF contributes a portion of its earnings back to the denomination to help fund ministry grants that support new church plants, youth scholarships for mission trips, and facility improvements to economically challenged RCA congregations whose ministries are thriving through the Flourishing Churches Grant program.

“I’m excited about the opportunities for growth of the CGF because if the CGF is growing, then the church is vibrant and growing itself,” says Dunlap. “Then, in turn, the CGF is able to fund grants that are critical for further church multiplication and revitalization.”

Dunlap also currently serves as board chairman of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Michigan.

As for his work with the CGF, he is “really excited to work with the team, leaders, pastors, and staff to help grow the CGF in order to help fund the important missionary work of the church.”
