Camp Sunday

RCA Camp Sunday is celebrated on the fourth Sunday in June. It's a time for congregations to remember the ministry of the eight RCA summer camps—GenevaManitoquaFowlerCran-Hill RanchInspiration Hills, CountrysideLaurel Pines, and Warwick—as the summer camp season is in full swing.

Suggestions for Celebrating Camp Sunday

  • Take an offering to help support the ministry of an RCA camp near you.
  • Invite all the kids in the congregation who will be attending camp or who have recently attended camp to stand up, and pray over them. Pray that their time at summer camp will deepen their relationship with God and with God's creation.
  • Have kids who have attended camp or adults who have worked at a camp lead the congregation in a camp song or two.
  • Invite a representative from an RCA camp near your congregation to come and share about the camp's ministry or set up a small display in the fellowship hall.
  • Ask kids who have recently been to summer camp for photos from their time at camp, and display them on a bulletin board or in a slide show.
  • Ask a child who went to summer camp this year or last year to share briefly with the congregation about his or her time at summer camp.
  • Consider setting up a summer camp scholarship to help a family that cannot afford camp tuition send their child to an RCA summer camp.

RCA Camps and Conference Centers

Adults also find camp settings a relaxing get away. The natural beauty and solitude of these camps make them ideal places for conferences, retreats, workshops, and family picnics. Check out the RCA camp in your area. It may be just the place you've been looking for.
