Dear [insert name here],
My summer plans are coming together, and I am very excited to be able to share them with you. I feel God is calling me to go beyond the boundaries of Jenison and Hager Park, to reach out to people around the world and share God’s love. This summer, I will have an opportunity to live into that calling. From July 18 to 25, I will be serving with Paradise Bound Ministries as part of a 21-person mission team in Guatemala. Based in Michigan, Paradise Bound Ministries comes alongside the poorest and most needy people in Guatemala.
Our mission team will be working with Dan and Heidi Smith, who run Paradise Bound Ministries, on a variety of projects. Two days of our trip will be devoted to Village Impact Ministries. We will spend these days in two remote villages giving people life-saving medications. We will also take time during these days to get to know the people in the villages and share the love of Christ with them. During the rest of our trip, we will build a drywall-studded home for a poor family currently living in a cornstalk hut. We will also have the opportunity to help in the Open Doors Orphanage. I am so excited to go and serve the Lord by helping these people in a small but crucial way, and I can’t wait to tell you about my experiences when I return!
There are two ways that you can help me as I prepare to serve in Guatemala.
- Pray for me. Please pray for God to give my team safe travel, the words to minister with, and giving and caring hearts. Your prayers are so crucial for this trip. As Oswald Chambers wrote, “Prayer does not equip us for greater works; it is the greater work.”
- Offer financial support. If you feel called to support the work God is doing in Guatemala, please prayerfully consider mailing or giving me a donation. I am responsible for raising the $1,500 it costs to go on this trip to Guatemala. Your support will enable me to participate in this exciting opportunity. Checks should be made out to Hager Park Church. All contributions are tax-deductible, and you will receive a receipt for tax purposes.
Taking part in a mission trip is an incredible spiritual experience. God continues to work in my heart after my trip to Guatemala last year. I know that many of you supported me then (thank you!), and you may be wondering why you should do so again. My past experience has only multiplied my desire to return there to serve and grow in Christ. There is still work that needs to be done in Guatemala, and I believe God is calling me to take part in that kingdom work.
Thank you so much for prayerfully considering a gift to enable my ministry in Guatemala to continue!
