Sixth Sunday after Pentecost (Year B)

Sentences, adapted from Psalms 48 and 123

Great is the Lord in all the earth,
Merciful and loving beyond compare!
We lift up our eyes to the heavens,
Praise God's holy name!
Beautiful is God's holy mountain;
Ever joyful are the people of Zion!
We raise our hands in worship;
Praise God's holy name!
God has promised to walk with us;
The Lord forever shall be our guide!
We stand and fall in awe of you;
Praise God's holy name!
Praise God's holy name!

Call to Confession, adapted from 2 Corinthians 12

We are invited to appeal to God who is above all. In all things, the Lord shall say, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness."

Prayer of Confession

Powerful and merciful God,
Your grace is sufficient.
We confess our sin and the sin of this world.
We have not greeted those around us with your peace,
We have not delivered your promises to the ends of the earth,
We have not purged ourselves of misery and malice; yet,
In weakness, you are made strong;
In hardship, you are made faithful;
In calamity, you are made everlasting.
Breathe on us, breath of God.
Grant us courage to go where we have refused,
Wisdom to speak what we have forgotten,
And tenderness to show mercy to those we have neglected.
Restore our lives. Heal us. Forgive us.
Make us your servants—pure in heart, sent in service and gratitude for your son,
our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
