Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost (Year B)

Sentences, adapted from Psalm 84

How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts.
Our souls long for you.
Indeed we faint for the courts of the Lord.
Our hearts and flesh sing for joy to the living God.

Prayer of Confession

Holy God, We confess that we have defied you and
We have turned from your intended goodness.
The world that you love is far from our hearts
And the promises that you have made are distant from our minds.
Make us witnesses to your glory once again.
Incline our hearts to serve you and to obey your commands;
Strengthen us with the perseverance of your Son Jesus Christ and
Encourage us with the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
In your peace and mercy we pray all things,
Amen.

Assurance of Pardon, from Ezekiel 37:27-28

The Lord declares a covenant of peace with us, his people. We are blessed for we have become God's sanctuary forevermore.

This is what the Lord says: "My dwelling place shall be with them; and I will be their God and they shall be my people. Then the nations shall know that I the Lord sanctify...when my sanctuary is among them forevermore."

Prayer for Illumination

The Lord has come as Word
The Lord has come in silence.
Praise be to the name of the Lord.
Amen.
