Come Roll with Us!
Women's Sankofa Historic Bus Journey
New Jersey to Seneca Falls, NY, then back to New Jersey
Saturday to Sunday, Sept. 7-8, 2013
The RCA's Office of Multiracial Initiatives and Social Justice has hosted a number of three-day Sankofa journeys, designed primarily as avenues for ongoing racial reconciliation. While a multiracial spectrum of RCA women and friends is anticipated on this sojourn, it will be structured a little differently!
The one-and-a-half-day trip will focus on gender awareness and empowerment as we explore what it means to be females of faith in a broken world. The bus ride will begin in New Jersey, and then travel to Seneca Falls, New York, which is considered the birthplace of the women's rights movement in the United States.
Along the way, the adventures will be linked to the journeys taken by RCA women since the seventeenth century through scholarly insights, dynamic conversation, prayerful reflection, joyous community, and a deep sense of gratitude. On the return trip the group will worship together, celebrating both the history behind them and the exciting road ahead. This all-women Sankofa promises to nurture the soul and embolden the spirit!
Faith is a trip. Prepare for a moving experience.
Duration: Approximately a day and a half. The trip will leave from New Jersey on Saturday morning, and our historic and scenic trip north will be interwoven with highlight stops along the way. We will arrive in Seneca Falls by dinnertime. After a night of R&R in a local hotel the group will leave to return to New Jersey by Sunday afternoon. More details will be available soon.
