At its final joint plenary session with the Synod of the Christian Reformed Church, General Synod 2014 heard about the many ways the two denominations are collaborating.
RCA general secretary Tom De Vries and CRC executive director Joel Boot shared about their “spaghetti tour” earlier this year, when they visited 12 cities, shared about collaborative efforts, and asked for input from RCA and CRC members. Responses from participants were very positive; read what some of them said.
The denominations work closely on church planting, partnering on church planter assessments and training and cosponsoring Kingdom Enterprise Zones, places where CRC and RCA leaders plant churches together.
The RCA and CRC also join forces on disability ministries, leadership development, congregational renewal, radio and media ministry, disaster response, and more.
The denominations share a single benefits association, Information Technology support for staff, and resource distribution through Faith Alive.
In a joint session on Saturday, delegates from both synods adopted a joint resolution that strongly affirmed future partnership. Throughout the week, the side-by-side synods have met together for worship, meals, and fellowship.
