Center of Hope is an urban ministry that addresses spiritual and material needs by providing prayer, access to computers and phones, faith community nursing, winter clothing, baby supplies for new mothers, bikes to ride to work at minimal prices (more than 750 bikes each year), as well as a full bike shop for guests. The center welcomes people to adult Bible studies, sports nights for teens and young adults, and a summer Bible camp for children. Pastoral staff engages in street ministry, offers support through a drop-in center, and visits with those in prison.
- Sorting and pricing winter clothing and bikes.
- Immersion/outreach experiences among people volunteers probably do not normally interact with.
- Interaction and discussions with the center’s diverse staff and volunteers (one staff member is Native American, and the center does a lot of ministry with Native Americans).
- Opportunities through other ministries in Sioux Falls.
Volunteers may stay in hotels in Sioux Falls or in local churches. Contact the Volunteer Engagement team for assistance connecting with a local church. Teams are responsible for purchasing and preparing their own food.
There is no cost to serve at Center of Hope, but a donation is encouraged to assist with the cost of materials.
