CALTR – Faith in Action is an immersion experience that combines volunteer work, hands-on experiences, and conversations with community members.
Your volunteer team will help low-income New Jersey residents fix up their homes and hear from community members who work on issues like immigration, affordable housing, mental health, refugee resettlement, and prison reentry.
Through this experience, you’ll explore themes of faith, community, and action that you can carry with you into your own community.
Come alongside the dynamic community ministries at Reformed Church of Highland Park, including four nonprofit organizations and a robust roster of church-led ministries.
As a CALTR volunteer, you might:
- Repair and maintain housing for people who are homeless.
- Support Reformed Church of Highland Park’s community outreach to children and families.
- Eat at a café staffed by recently resettled refugees.
- Learn about a low-cost community mental health program.
- Clean up a local stream.
- Visit people in a local detention center.
- Set up an apartment for a new refugee family.
However you’re called upon to serve, you’ll be an integral part of God’s work in New Jersey.
Volunteers will be housed at the Reformed Church of Highland Park. You will be provided with cots but will need to bring your own bedding. Two showers are available onsite and offsite. The church will provide breakfast, dinner, and supplies to pack a lunch.
The cost is approximately $150 per person.
