Founded in 1986, Sahel Academy is a K-12, English-language, internationally accredited Christian school that primarily exists to meet the educational needs of missionary families serving in West Africa. The RCA currently has two mission coworker families with six children at Sahel Academy. Sahel Academy now includes more than 180 students from 23 nations; including some English-speaking non-believers from Niamey’s international community.
“I have never been more stretched and challenged as I have been in coming to Sahel, but I have also never been shown grace in such a real way. The grace of our Lord has been made evident in the love the students have shown me, the patience the staff has granted me, and the joy I have been given in service to both.”
Sahel Academy seeks volunteers with administrative or maintenance skills to manage and maintain its K-12 school and campus. Professional administrators (principals, business managers, human resources managers, etc.), office staff (clerical, administrative aides), and maintenance staff are always needed. Sahel Academy can also use builders to supervise the construction of staff housing and other buildings. This can be a multi-year commitment or a shorter commitment to replace staff who are away on furlough or medical leave.

While teaching certificates are strongly desired, they are not necessary for every position. Knowledge of French is useful for living in Niamey, but not for working at the school.
