A oportunidade

In September 2015, the “Valley Fire” damaged homes across 76,000 acres of land throughout Lake County, California. It was one of the worst fires in state history, and assistance is still needed to help communities recover.

Most projects are new home construction from foundation to finish. There will be a variety of work available at each site. A local construction coordinator will assign work projects that are appropriate to the size and skill level of your group.

Detalhes da viagem

Acomodações:

Volunteers will stay in dorm-style housing located approximately 5-30 minutes away from each construction site. The dorm has capacity for 50 people. Food and supplies for meals are provided but groups will prepare their own meals.

Cost notes:

The cost is $150 per person to cover housing and meals. This is payable to the local site coordinator.

Packing suggestions:

Please bring sleeping bags, pillows, towels, and toiletries. A general packing list can be found on page nine of Preparing to Serve, a guide compiled by World Renew DRS. Materials and basic tools are provided and coordinated by the local construction coordinator. Skilled tradesmen are encouraged to bring their own tools if possible. This should be discussed with the local site coordinator during the planning process.

Qualificações:

Generally, high school age and older are welcome. Groups that include youth must have an appropriate adult-to-youth ratio and adults who are able to supervise youth for work projects. It is helpful to have a couple of people with construction experience in your group, but this is not required. The local construction coordinator will provide guidance on work projects.
