Pastor

Church or Organization: Abbe Reformed Church

Clymer, NY

Full-time

Position Description: Minister of Word and Sacrament

We are praying for a pastor to shepherd our flock as we step into the next chapter of God's calling upon the Church. We prioritize Biblical leadership and solid preaching. Clymer is a small and close-knit community and therefore it is essential that the pastor be part of the community. We are also a congregation which is proud of our older members and the role they have, and continue to play in our church. As a result, we value visitation and spiritual care for all ages, but especially for those who are no longer able to come physically to our fellowship. We pray that it goes without saying that we cherish the littlest among us and invest a large proportion of all our resources into discipleship of the next generation starting from a very young age. We have many ministries to prove God's faithfulness and our commitment. We are earnestly praying for a humble, genuine, down-to-earth, flexible servant who carries a missionary's heart to the world. As a small community we offer great blessings as well as unique challenges.

Associate Pastor

Church or Organization: St. Thomas Reformed Church

St. Thomas, VI

Full-time

The Saint Thomas Reformed Church (STRC), located in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, is seeking a full-time Associate Pastor to lead and grow with its culturally diverse congregation of approximately 300 members. The STRC is a historic congregation which has been established for over 350 years, and has grown with the times to become a mainstay in our community. As we continue to grow, we have seen the need for an Associate Pastor to assist our Senior Pastor, and to organize a Christian Education program that ministers to all ages and help guide and manage our staff.

When the Virgin Islands were struck by two Category 5 hurricanes, our church became the center of our island community, providing food, water, and critical supplies to those in need. We rose from our hardship as a resilient and close-knit family who looks after one another. You would be coming into a community in a period of growth and change, and your creativity and forward thinking is needed to help us move ahead and reach further into our community.

Our church is built on a foundation of Faith, Hope, Love, and Grace. STRC is very proud of their participation in outreach programs such as My Brother’s Workshop (www.mybrothersworkshop.org), The Salvation Army, LongPath Community Center, and many others. We will full expect the selected candidate to embrace these opportunities to serve and to take part in community outreach.

The appropriate candidate for this position will be an energetic and outgoing individual, rich in faith, with strong leadership skills. You should have the desire, commitment and creativity to partner with the congregation to grow together. It is important that you help church leadership bring the church into the future while respecting the traditions and history of the past. We are looking for an individual to revive and lead the way to a new chapter in our Christian Education Program. With youth mission trips, Christian Education programs, and home Bible study, there are many opportunities for the right person to exercise their skills in Christian Education, and put their talent to good use.

We are excited to welcome a new Associate Pastor who is anxious to be a part of our island community, not just our congregation! Are you ready to serve in a small community with big needs? Are you able to overcome the challenge of living on an island? Do you desire to use your Christian Education experience in a new and exciting way?  Consider becoming our new Associate Pastor.

If you would like to learn more about STRC, we invite you to review our website at www.strc.org. If you would like to apply or have any questions, please contact the leader of our search committee Michael Conforti at michaeljconforti@yahoo.com or by calling (908) 930-9690 (cell).

Come Hear

Listen, a bell is ringing.

Listen, voices are singing.

This is where the mountains

Climb to the sky,

Where the world is painted,

And words are songs.

Where the past meets the present,

And comes back to life.

This is where God dances.

This is where God plays.

Listen, children are laughing.

Listen, hands are clapping.

Five, six, seven generations,

Two hundred years we gather.

This is where the steeple reaches

For the sky,

And the doors are open for

All to come inside.

Where broken souls are welcome,

And heavy hearts can heal.

This is where God speaks.

This is where God opens up his arms.

Listen, the mountains are singing.

Listen, someone is praying.

Here is where we bow our heads

Here is where we pray,

This is where we come

To laugh and cry.

This is where we come

When we need to

Listen.
