Senior Pastor

Church or Organization: St. Croix Reformed Church

St. Croix, USVI

Full-time

St. Croix Reformed Church is literally a church on a hill. We want to let our light shine before others so that our island community might see our good works and give glory to our Father in heaven. We own our Reformed/Presbyterian heritage, but are casual in our approach and willing to live into it in new ways. Music is a vital part of our ministry and we anticipate using new styles and approaches. We value cultural diversity and the welcome we extend, but recognize there is more work to be done. We want to offer our neighbors an inclusive community striving for justice.

We are looking for an energetic pastor who can engage us in activities beyond Sunday morning. We’d appreciate a capable preacher and teacher who can apply Scripture to our daily lives and offer us spiritual direction as we share this journey of life and faith. Our island is seeing a number of families with young children arrive, so we are seeking a pastor who will be involved in the community and can engage with them. As our island is very diverse, we are seeking someone who is culturally competent, adaptable, and willing to listen to people from all walks of life.

Caribbean living has its strengths and struggles. There are beautiful beaches, but also the possibility of hurricanes. The pace of life is slow, but that also means that conveniences are not always readily available. In the midst this SCRC hopes to be a presence of peace, making space for rest, restoration, and recovery in our church on the hill. If you sense a call to join us in this work please submit a cover letter, resume, and two essays in response to the following questions:

  1. What caused you to enter ministry, what are the core values that define your vision for ministry, and which theologians/authors influence your ministry?
  2. Name at least one challenge for a pastor who accepts a call to lead a church that is based in a community whose culture is different from the majority of church members, and how you would address it.

We are also ready to accept a sermon video or audio if you have one available. All items can be sent to stxreformed@gmail.com.

Pastor

Church or Organization: Powell River Reformed Church

Powell River, BC

Full-time

Powell River Reformed Church is nestled on the southern coast of British Columbia with the Pacific Ocean on our westerly horizon and the coastal mountains and numerous lakes in our backyard. Though travel in and out of our city (population 17,000) is accessed by either air or ferry, amenities of all kinds are available locally, including sports, cultural arts, shopping, hospital, schools, college, etc.

PRRC was a new church plant in 1990 and became affiliated with the RCA February 1, 1991. Only one church of varying Christian denominations resides here. As a result, Powell River has a very active and supportive Ministerial Association through which numerous joint ministry ventures are held, as well as monthly gathering of the pastors. Collectively the churches are currently involved in bringing the Young Life youth program into the community.

Challenges for all the churches here revolve to a great extent around outreach and discipleship. This is reflected in the fact that only 7% of the population are church affiliated, and within PRRC there are 27 active confessing members (plus 8 baptized children) with 41 adherents. Age demographic shows 40% of members under 65 and 94% Caucasian.

We are looking for a pastor whose desire is to partner with and further enable the congregates as together we live into our Mission/Vision Statement: God is moving us forward to be visible with the love of Jesus in creative ministry that meets community needs.

Although open to receiving other North American applicants, we strongly encourage Canadian candidates from both the RCA and CRC to apply. Minister profiles should be sent to: prreformedchurch1@gmail.com. If you would like to see Powell River Reformed Church’s profile, please contact Marla Rotman at the Office of Ministry services, mrotman@rca.org.  Please specify “Powell River Reformed Church” in your request.

Pastor

Church or Organization: Fairview Reformed Church

Fairview, IL

Full-time

The Fairview Reformed Church is seeking a full-time pastor to become a part of the fabric of our congregation and village by ministering to the total life of this community by preaching, teaching, witnessing and proclaiming the Gospel of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We are a friendly church with members of all ages who care about each other and are passionate about reaching the unchurched while growing in our own spiritual relationship with our Lord and Savior.

Together with the leading, teaching and guiding of our pastor we are eager and willing to work as a team to continue and improve the programs and youth ministries we already have in place. We look forward to welcoming a pastor who will inspire us through spirit-filled messages from the pulpit and who will create new opportunities for growth and fellowship so we can continue to serve our awesome God for another 180 years!

Fairview is located in the heart of Illinois, thirty miles east of Peoria. Our historic church has been conducting services continually since being organized in 1837 and is the oldest Reformed Church west of the Allegheny Mountains. Worship is still conducted in the beautifully restored, original two-story building completed in 1841. Sharing the shady one block area where the church stands is a modern Fellowship Hall with pastor's office. A lovely four bedroom parsonage, built in 1999, is across the street.

If you desire a peaceful, rural setting in which to reside and minister to others, Fairview may be the answer to your prayers and ours!

For a copy of our church profile please contact Pastor Marla Rotman, Office of Ministry Services, RCA, at mrotman@rca.org.
