The denomination’s hard copy resources are now available for order from Amazon. Available products include the Book of Church Order, the Minutes of General Synod, and the She Is Called Women of the Bible Study volumes. Books from the Historical Series are also available through Amazon.
The General Synod Council (GSC) staff’s Communications and Marketing team facilitated this shift—moving an approximate two dozen resources—after ongoing evaluation of the RCA’s online store.
For the past two years, the RCA Store was supported by Lulu, a print-on-demand and shipping vendor. Over time, it became evident that Lulu’s shipping times were not sufficient or reliable, nor was its customer service of a high enough quality.
With Amazon, resources remain print-on-demand, meaning that when a new order is placed, the item is printed at that time and shipped to the purchaser. This approach requires no inventory or storage of materials, which saves the denomination financial resources.
Hosting Reformed Church Press materials on Amazon also reduces GSC staff time. Additionally, Amazon Prime members may be eligible for free shipping.
Many of the RCA’s resources, such as forms and certificates or digital versions of synodical resources and Bible studies, continue to be available as free printable downloads through the RCA website or Faithward.org.
One downside of this move is that Amazon does not support all formats, like spiral binding, which means that the Plan Calendar is in its last year. The July 2023–December 2024 calendar is available to order through the end of September. Downloadable lectionary readings for the year will continue to be available at www.faithward.org/at-home-with-the-word, or you can add the readings to a digital calendar.
