Robert's Rules for delegates

General Synod meetings are conducted according to the principles in “Robert’s Rules,” which refers to Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised, 12th Edition. Robert’s Rules is a manual of parliamentary procedure designed to help assemblies accomplish their work, and the Book of Church Order names it as the rules of order for the General Synod. But what do you need to know about Robert’s Rules in order to participate effectively as a General Synod delegate? Howard Moths, the stated clerk of the Regional Synod of the Great Lakes, has put together these two informational videos designed to help delegates understand the basics of how Robert’s Rules functions, and also why it matters.
If you’ve never heard of Robert’s Rules of Order, or if you’re not very familiar with it, we encourage you to carve out some time to watch these videos – they’ll give you a much better understanding of how business works at General Synod.
