Workshops

Mission 2025 workshops provide the opportunity to dive deeper into a specific ministry area of RCA Global Mission. Whatever your passion, we have a workshop for you!

You will attend two workshops during Mission 2025.

Rooted in God’s Call to Grow the Global Church

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to answer God’s call to be a church planter on the other side of the world? This workshop will share stories of the diverse paths and challenges faced by three RCA Global Mission missionaries—Rawee Bunupuradah and Felipe and Janelle deWaard-Silva—who serve as church planters in international settings. Through personal narratives and shared experiences, gain insights into the evolving role of church planting in the global church today.

Reimagining the Traditional Mission Trip Experience

Ready for a fresh take on short-term missions? Join Marcia Pratt and Esther Theonugraha as they share stories of how they have reimagined the traditional mission trip and made it a reality. Following best practices for short-term volunteering, they’ve created dynamic mission models focused on building deep relationships with mission partners for mutual learning and encouragement. Come see God’s work in action and be part of the adventure!

Art in the Mission Field

Creating art can enhance wellness, build community, and can be a novel approach to making inlets for the gospel to be shared. Come hear first-hand accounts from long-term RCA missionary Dara Vanden Bosch, who serves in Mozambique, and short-term mission artist Joel Schoon-Tanis, and experience with your own hands the impact of art in mission..

Meet Me at the Border

Meet three dedicated RCA missionaries stationed on the frontlines of migration: one at the European border of Italy, another along the U.S.–Mexico border, and a third serving globally. In this workshop, you will reflect on how God has called RCA Global Mission to support those displaced and seeking refuge, and how you’re invited and can participate in extending Christ-like care to people on the move.

Stories of Hope and Resilience from Peacebuilding in South Sudan

North American societies are becoming increasingly divided, and we can learn a lot about reconciliation from our siblings around the world. Join us as we lean into the messiness, uncertainty, wisdom, and hope of RCA Global Mission’s longtime peace partnership with RECONCILE. Over the last 15 years, RCA missionaries Shelvis and Nancy Smith-Mather have witnessed the birth of the world’s newest nation, endured civil war, and engaged Africa’s largest refugee crisis. Come hear how they have seen God at work through the lives and faithfulness of their South Sudanese colleagues. This will be an invaluable opportunity to share and learn tools for fostering reconciliation in your own community.

Bringing Hope and Help after the Storm

Ever wondered what disaster response truly entails? This workshop is for you! Join forces with RCA Global Mission supporters and volunteers as we partner with World Renew’s North American disaster response ministry. Witness firsthand how communities, long forgotten by news headlines, are receiving aid and hope, days, weeks, months, and even years after devastation strikes. Discover how you can become a vital part of this ongoing mission.

Home Away from Home: the International Church

Discover the fascinating world of expatriate churches as we delve into their expanding presence worldwide and what that means for mission engagement. Join RCA missionaries Doug McClintic and Gretchen Schoon-Tanis as they share their frontline experiences serving alongside local denominations in Europe. Uncover how these churches are bridging cultures and empowering expat communities to thrive. Don’t miss out on this exploration of the rise and role of international and expat churches in the 21st century!
